Desiré Layfield, Director of Clinical & Referral Services
Living in the foothills of North Georgia all my life, and still residing there, I am blessed to have an amazing Husband of 10 years and 3 beautiful children. My journey in healthcare began 20 years ago as a certified nursing assistant in a long-term care facility. Early in my career, I had the opportunity to transition to a position in mental health in an acute care hospital. It was there that I began to learn about the brain, how it works and how it is unique in every person, and I knew I had found my passion. I have spent the last 18 years working in psychiatry in both inpatient and outpatient levels of care. I understand that mental health is often misunderstood and promoting one’s mental health is an everyday challenge. I am committed to supporting patients as they take steps to take care of their most important parts of their bodies…their brains!
I graduated in 2008 from North Georgia College & State University with a Bachelor’s in Science in Health Physical Education and minor in Leadership. My family instilled a strong work ethic in me at a young age and encouraged me with a quote from Abraham Lincoln. “Whatever you are, be a good one.” It is my hope that I can bring my best every day to make sure our patients receive amazing care.
