In Person Visits vs. Televisits

PPG is open to telehealth and it has become a staple since the pandemic. Unfortunately, we are not getting clear guidance from all insurance carriers and most have generic guidelines. We appreciate your understanding and patience as this is an ever evolving process.

At this time, it is not possible to keep up with every individual behavioral health plan within each insurance carrier.  For example, BCBS/Anthem will state they cover telehealth, but we have received quite a few denied claims for "non covered services".  This appears to be dependent on the particular plan or employer and continues to be a fluid situation. We advise that you contact your insurance representative to confirm tetvisit coverage and that you document your conversation with them for your own records. 

In order to reduce the risk of denied claims, which adds a burden for the patient and for our company, we are updating this site as often as possible.  Currently, the insurances that we believe to be covered via televisit are:  

Medicare, Medicaid (direct), United, Aetna, Humana, Cigna, Tricare

Insurances that CANNOT be seen in our office via Televisit include: Ambetter

All others insurances including BCBS/Anthem are RECOMMENDED to be seen in person, as we have seen some visits come back unpaid due to televisit.  

We will bill the patient's insurance for a televisit.  Those televisits denied by your insurance will be charged the self pay rate of $225 (MD) and $175 (PA or NP) for follow ups.
