I am a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and have been in the field of behavioral health for several years. I earned my Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I started my nursing education and career in Seattle and then moved to Atlanta where I worked as a mental health nurse at an inpatient psychiatric facility for 13 years. This experience helped me understand the significance of a person's mental wellbeing in their health. I believe in providing culturally sensitive care to patients belonging to diverse backgrounds and alleviating the stigma associated with seeking help for mental illnesses, which is prevalent in certain communities.
As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, my goal is to enable my patients overcome their mental health challenges by managing their symptoms and help them build a life they feel is worth living. I have the experience of working with patients across the life span including crisis situations. I utilize evidence-based practice to determine the best treatment options for my patients, with a holistic approach. Along with medications, I believe in incorporating brief psychotherapy to optimize treatment and promote relief of symptoms. I always strive to create an individualized treatment plan for my patient’s unique needs to help them heal.
