Kim Thompson, PMHNP
After several years in North Carolina working as a nurse and wanting to do more, I decided to become a nurse practitioner. Relocating to Georgia afforded me the opportunity to become an NP and begin my career working in women’s health and family medicine. In my daily work, I could not ignore the impact chronic physical conditions had on the mental health of my patients. This experience led me to making a change working with individuals struggling with substance abuse and mental health issues. It was here I found my niche, leading me back to school for a psychiatric mental health degree. My focus is assessing and treating adults dealing with mental health issues with the goal of achieving recovery and improving quality of life. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and traveling.
